Summer Jubilee

Heights Neighborhood Library
Thursday, August 17, 2017 | 10:30am-2pm

We’re keeping it cool at the library! Take a break from the heat with summer-themed games, crafts and more. Join us in celebrating the end of a wonderful summer with a "Back to School" carnival! We'll have story times, face painting, performers, and snacks! Staff has requested assistance for behind the scene preparation, setup, and help throughout the program (photo booth, crafts, food and refreshments).

Heart Party

Collier Regional Library
Wednesday, August 30, 2017 | 6pm-7:30pm

Celebrate your physical and metaphorical heart at our community Heart Party! We will be hearing from experts in health and nutrition, moving and grooving to some instructor-led classes, and exploring holistic well-being through games and activities. Snacks, photo booth, and crafts. All ages welcome. Staff will need assistance from volunteers to help with setup, various activity stations, greeting & assisting customers, crowd management, breakdown/cleanup and other tasks as assigned.

Students, parents, working people, retirees, anyone fourteen years of age and over can help Houston Public Library deliver a variety of quality services to its public of over two million area residents.

Mentors, research assistants, crafts assistants, after school zone mentors, docents, tech squad, internships, ESOL teachers and shelving assistants are some of the volunteer assignments.

Central Library, Special Collections libraries or any of 40 other convenient locations serving Houston neighborhoods.

Volunteers are needed seven days a week, whenever the Houston Public Library is open. Evenings and weekends are the busiest times, but the library can accommodate most schedules. You may also assist as a seasonal volunteer during spring break, summer or holiday season.

Community needs for Houston Public Library's educational, recreational, and informational services are continually increasing. Working together, volunteers and paid staff can help meet these increased demands despite a limited budget. Not only can volunteers help the library -it's a two-way street. Volunteers acquire new skills, meet interesting people and experience the satisfaction of sharing their talents with others.

Special effort is made to match the interests of volunteers with their work assignments. Explore opportunities to work with children, share library information, process materials, or assist with special projects. Volunteering at Houston Public Library is one way you CAN make a difference!
